You can pirate media that uses that new blu ray drm by plugging a capture card into the overpriced compatible DVD player and recording the video. Also, it’s a way to transfer saved content from a dvr as their hard drives are always encrypted (do those still exist). The video stream on all this stuff is encrypted with hdcp to prevent this but there exist hdcp strippers. It seems to still be possible to buy them even on Amazon. Stock up before they get banned. Frankly I’m surprised they aren’t banned already.

I don’t really subscribe to the whole if civilization collaspes there will be no technology in anyone’s lifetime again thing. You aren’t going to go back to ordering shit off amazon from your smartphone or anything. However the knowledge that things like refrigeration, radio transmission, internal combustion engines, water treatment and such are possible is going to drive people to eventually find out how to get it by any means necessary.

How quickly this happens is a question of whether the majority of people adopt a “technology is too dangerous/a sin against God” idealogy or not.

The soil where I live is only good enough for 5.25in floppy plants to grow.

Huh, I thought you were supposed to use -sri. I hate dealing with the AUR, that stuff doesn’t work half the time. I’m sure there are reasons for making it annoying like that but I haven’t really put much thought into it before. I’d like to think making the AUR a pain in the ass makes things less likely to break, and hopefully that’s not just because you’re less likely to install AUR packages.

Yet another reason I never buy anything from Nintendo. Fuck those fucks. On average only like 2 Nintendo games per console generation are ever any good anyway. They should be held responsible for all the e-waste they generate.

Something something military industrial complex

The problem in America is that more and more skilled workers are having to settle for making hamburgers because of shit like this. Good luck getting any “portfolio” shit done when you’re working 2 unskilled labor jobs and still not making your monthly bills.

This also doesn’t address the fact that employers give zero fucks about that stuff. Portfolios. Gimme a fucking break. It doesn’t matter if you singlehandedly made an entire Linux distro, no one’s going to care.

Making your own indie games when you already have the skills and don’t have college debt is a thing that already generally doesn’t work out.

Best I can do is make an elf that mostly works and the memory manager seems pretty solid but the second you start doing stuff with strings, it fucks all up and I never figured out that bug after months so it is what it is. If you want to print a string you have to drop into real mode first.

If they really have been working on this for the past 4 years like they say, I wouldn’t go as far as to say it will live up to the trailer and hype but it’s still a unique idea that hasn’t been done to death so unless they sell out or really fuck up, I think it will still be a good game.

If this wasn’t an indie game it would have no chance. An AAA studio or publisher would never risk pursuing a new idea like this in the first place though
