  • I don’t feel like QBs have been that this season.

It’s just that the guys who get hyped ( Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Lawrence…basically the AFC QBs) have not been good and it’s actually clouding the excellent play of NFC guys who perennially never get ANY credit.

Purdy, Dak, Cousins, Stroud ( I know he’s in AFC but he’s a an OSU rookie people said would bee a bust) and Hurts have generally been good-great this year.

QB play is not as baad as people think…it’s jusst that the guys media generally push down our throats have not played up to the standard people expected…and so the general consensus has become “QBs are bad this year” when it’s not true

  • This post is why I always complain that we are not passing the ball enough. (SF fan)…Aiyuk has been eating DBs alive all season long and Kittle is THAT dude yet we are bottom 3 in pass attempts…SMDH.

People be saying CMC is the engine of our offense when in reality the trio of Purdy-Aiyuk-Kittle has been the main basis of our explosive offense…those 3 have great chemistry and have been excellent all year.

Nice to see BA and Kittle on these graphics…if anything we have underutilised our pass game from a volume standpoint.

  • We all know this won’t happen…before they even think of giving it to a defensive player…they will see if they can get a WR ( Hill) or an RB (CMC) the award.

In most cases, the QB with the better stats between the 1 seeded teams in either conference will take the award…with a caveat for this particular season.

Right now it would be Hurts vs Lamar for MVP…so Lamar would likely be favourite in this scenario with the narrative advantage of having a worse roster on paper.

If KC gets the one seed with their WR troubles…even with a good defense…Mahomes will have the “He has no WRs but is the 1 seed anyway” narrative to play with.

If we (SF) somehow get the 1 seed…then the AFC QB 1 seed will get the award by default coz Purdy will NEVER be taken seriously for MVP consideration because of multiple BS reasons…CMC is a RB so that would be used against him too in this H2H.

The actual MVP picture this season from a performance standpoint should include Garrett, TJ Watt, CMC, CJ Stroud, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy. I excluded Tua and Dak for lack of big game performances of the others…Hurts has not played like a top 5 QB by any real stat or even the eye test.

  • I disagree with the headline.

The QB is THE most important position in sports for a reason. The Bengals are done because Burrow is hurt…he wasn’t having a great season due to a slow start but that kind of thing highlights how critical the position is. The Ravens have crumbled without Lamar when he got hurt the last 2 seasons and missed some games.

My own team’s SB chances last season were ultimately ended in PHI as soon as Purdy’s elbow was destroyed.

The moment a team’s starting QB gets hurt…their season is finished unless for some weird reason you get a really really good backup…and even that lowers expectations.

I also disagree with the “No QB deserves MVP this year” narrative…

Lamar, Stroud and Purdy have played at an objectively high level and one of them deserves the award depending on what you prefer:

1.Lamar- affects defenses in ways others QBs cannot…

    1. Stroud- has probably elevated his team the most

    2. Purdy- by far the best per throw stats of any QB this season on par with some previous MVP seasons.

MVP is supposed to be the player a team has no shot to win without…and that is always gonna be the QB
