I believe the ailerons are on the outside half of the wing, and the flaps are on the inside half (toward the fuselage)

Extends the flaps, i.e. makes the chord of the wing longer making it able to be more effective at lower airspeed. (takeoff and landing).

The flaps are retracted at cruise to make the wing more efficient at cruise.

Time is a wheel. We’ve seen this movie before, and although we believe we know how it ends, we gotta keep looking out for the M. Night Shamalan twists.

70s and 80s yes. Not so much the 90s. Those were the salad years. Glasnost, the end of the cold war, the Internet… Everything was looking so positive. Hell, even the music was happier (although that might be selection bias).

The 70s and 80s were terrifying by comparison.

But of course, they’ll be reported in the news as “violent ‘anteefa’ extremists”, despite their beat-up lifted truck sporting “Trump 2028” bumper stickers and confederate flags.

And vote to increase funding for it.
