Because teams hire these guys expecting results in 2 years when they are trying to build a system like the Patriots/Steelers/Packers. They sign a bunch of vets because they don’t want rookies playing in year 1 and want to develop the “next man up” system when they can’t or won’t resign players which takes a long time to have that system in place and working.

Would have to imagine Phil Dawson’s record has to be pretty bad and he’s 18th on the all-time scoring list (1,847 Points) 1 Touchdown catch.

Cleveland Browns (14 Years): 75- 166 (2 Years above .500)
San Francisco 49ers (4 Years): 27- 38 (1 Year above .500)
Arizona Cardinals (2 Years): 11-21 (0 Years above .500)

The NFC may have a surprise Wild Card team, while AFC is going to come down to tiebreakers. I think 11 wins is what gets a team in the postseason this year and even then someone maybe still sitting out with a 11 wins. The surprise Wild Card NFC team I would put into the playoffs will be the Buccaneers. I just think they are too good of a team to miss out. Probably help keep players who that organization was going to go through a complete rebuild.
