My line which is 1/2 true (or better) is that I quit my corporate job and sold my house and all my possessions and am traveling until that money runs out.

It’s great because it could mean anything money-wise, it’s super relatable (who hasn’t imagined doing it), and frames you as not (too) rich or privileged, just crazy.

The truth is that was what I actually did. I just happened to get offered a ton of consulting jobs once former coworkers and colleagues found out I was available. Now I work like 12 hours a week and make the same amount I used to.

Think about what’s really essential and what you can easily buy. If you already check a bag try to fit the stuff in there.

I bring a knife, nice chopsticks, thermopen, bag closey clips, a mini silicone spatula, mini wood spatula, and some silicone wine bottle stoppers, a nice corkscrew, and an aeropress. It takes up hardly any space other than the aeropress.

Essentially my entire checked bag is dedicated to “quality of life” items so the kitchen essentials are just a part of that. There’s a yoga mat, a first aid kit, a hammock, sketchbooks and art supplies, sports shoes, etc… it makes the 3-6 month stays really nice.

My wife and I go pretty similar to this. Compact kitchen essentials. It also makes the transition days between long stays better if you are in hotels or traveling.

Do you know if they’ll also accept a lump sum demonstration for self employed people? Like I’m trying to start my business, have the spanish minimum income x 2 years to float me til it takes off, but no (or little) current income.

I stayed in Schengen longer than 90 via one of the bilateral treaty countries (USA) and I got the third degree both when leaving and my first time returning. It all worked out because I was in the right and had done my research, but they do not fuck around.
