I’m retiring next week from a union job with a community college. Insane benefits, pension, no overtime. Some eager 20something would be set for life. But, it tends to be older workers who see the value of such a position.

This is how atrocities start. This is the prelude to rounding up LGBTQ people. And then who?

It’s Oracle. They have attractive little salesgirls who target faculty, telling them they can have this “awesome” website without techies. What they don’t tell them is, any new feature has to be done by them, and it costs. With Drupal, someone asks me for a feature, I can set it up for them in a few days.

The Republican shithole burb I live in is determined to bulldoze what little open space remains, and stack more apartments on top of overpriced apartments. No improvements of course. I have to slog 4 miles to the nearest shopping, and if I had to take the bus? A simple errand could run four hours.

Long ago, after a very pleasant weekend with this girl, I made that mistake. She had horse shampoo, for manes and tails.

After I retire, the college website will be switched from Drupal, which uses MySQL in a civilized fashion, to Modern Campus, which uses Excel. I don’t envy the person who will take over from me.

Make sure they’re not lickin’ em toadyfrogs!

The other day was my retirement party. We went to a local Chinese place, and while all the others were getting the touristy stuff, sweet sour and mu shu, I said “smoked bean pork.” The waiter looked at me like I was from Alpha Centauri, like “what’s an old white guy doing ordering the good stuff?”

Classic. I savor the Schadenfreude as I would the finest steak and lobster.

They are very very concerned. And they support him anyway.

When his followers have to stand in line for whatever slop Walmart is willing to sell them that week, they’ll blame Democrats.
