  • I’ve owned one Orient. About 12 years ago, as I was first starting to get into watches, the WUS forums were full of praise for Orient. I happened to find a nice little dress watch—I forget which model, it was maybe 37mm—for less than $70 online. I made the purchase and was very happy with it for about a year and a half. At that point, the rotor stopped winding the spring, turning my automatic watch into just a mechanical watch. I made due. I enjoyed the watch, had purchased a few straps for it, and wanted to keep wearing it. Then, one day, one of the hands just fell off. Servicing was going to cost more than the watch itself, so I opted not to try to revive it. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I won’t buy another Orient because of that experience.
