I mean you can do both, having nice things and having emergency money aren’t mutually exclusive.

I have no problem going from my $1400 watch to my $200 watch, price isn’t a deciding factor when I choose what watch to wear.
I don’t care if people wear fake watches as long as they own up to it.
People use the word grail too lightly. I don’t care how broke you are (because I’m not rich either), a $500 watch that you can get at the department store is not worthy of being called a grail. A true grail should be a pipe dream fantasy for 99.9% of people. All of the watches I consider to be grails are comfortably six-figures and I’ll never come close to being able to own them. Anything you can attain at some point is a goal.
You aren’t a true watch enthusiast if you hate everything outside of a very specific genre. Be more open minded to what is out there, not everything has to be a <40mm white metal time only monochrome dial watch on a leather strap. You wouldn’t call someone a foodie if they only liked one kind of food would you?
I might have some others but those are kinda my top three spiciest ones.
Whether or not something is HiFi has basically nothing to do with price. HD58X and an apple dongle is HiFi for under $200 all in. There are $3000 headphones that sound worse than some $300 headphones. Don’t conflate price with sound quality.
I really can’t narrow it down to just one, so my top three grails are:
I will most certainly never own any of these because they are all fuck off expensive and fuck off rare, but to me that’s kinda the point of a grail, something that’s fun to daydream about but you’ll probably never actually have.
Sorry, I did you dirty by pulling that number out of my ass. I haven’t found anything to really go on, all the listings I see for similar watches are for the solid gold ones, or quartz ones. I see a few listings for just the movement on eBay for anywhere from $60 to $120, so I could possibly see the full watch going for a couple hundred to the right person. $200 may be pushing it given the condition and unknown status of the movement in terms of servicing.
I wouldn’t expect more than like $20 tbh.
For me the best looking Rolex is the bluesy sub
