1 year agoJust put some electrical tape over the fan’s infrared receiver. You can leave a pinhole open so you can aim the remote directly at it for fan to receive commands. This works also if you have multiple TVs close to each other w/o a way of changing IR codesets for same/similar makes.
I love everything except the mic board with the speaker(from an installation/servicing standpoint). That worries me a little bit. I’m thinking you could print some sort of hinged track so you can mount the POE board that needs to be buried. That drops in first and swings down(maybe even a 45 degree if you have the depth, so removal is smoother). Then attached to the next track would be the speaker, magnet down, with a deflector or printed waveguide to route acoustics toward the opening? Then snap in the mic board the way you have it now. That way the whole thing can be recovered easily for servicing without cutting up the wall since you’re gonna mud it all in. Its always more difficult to install/service in the field than it seems on a test bench! But I love it all. Make some videos when you get things up and running. It is very exciting!
