Went to university with a lady named (I kid you not): April May June
According to her, her parents thought it would be “fun”.
I would guess she is about 50-60 years old now.
I’ve gotten them before.
Far more than I am proud to say, far more.
But, after Adams filed a formal complaint about the assault, she was told in writing by a vice-president at CFMWS that she should have realized she would face such dangers when accepting a job supporting Canada’s military mission in Latvia.
So, she “should have known what she was getting herself into”? And they put that in writing it seems.
Months after the assault, Adams wrote to Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Wayne Eyre and other senior military leaders asking for help. Adams said she didn’t receive a reply from Eyre.
I’m shocked, shocked I say! /s
Instead, the DND records indicate that military and department officials were more concerned about whether other news media outlets would pick up on the Ottawa Citizen articles about the incident.
I really hope the Ottawa Citizen alerts all the other media outlets about this - repeatedly!
Shortly after the assault, Adams’ contract was ended two months early by CFMWS. That decision was made “in order to ensure there is no further risk to your health,” according to a Feb. 3 2023 letter sent to Adams by the organization. CFMWS gave her $11,833, which paid her out for the early termination of her contract.
Captain Obvious knows the proper way to handle this is to fire the victim (shows they are “good” business people). But we paid out the contract so it’s totally fine. /s
Sounds like our neighbors to the north are stealing the US militaries playbook on sexual assault. Worst thing they could do 😭.
That was my original point: it is running Windows 11 right now. A bit slow, but it runs.
Give me the $100 first (completely and irrevocably non-retractable). After I (in my sole judgement and by my sole timeline) am 100% convinced it’s mine, then I’ll sign.
I can’t see investing upgrades into HW that old (I know I could, just doesn’t seem like the best use of money in the long run).
Also, my partner’s SW is only available for Windows and I don’t feel like teaching them enough Linux to run Wine under it.
Finally got around to looking up the info on it.
It’s a Dell Latitude D630 (model PP18L according to the label). CPU is: Intel Core 2 T7250, 2.00GHz, 800MHz, 2M L2 Cache, Dual Core Built: 27 MAR 2008 (actually newer than I thought) Last OS to have support from Dell was: Windows Vista 32/64 bit RAM is: 2.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM
Per this page it doesn’t meet the specs: Windows 11 requirements But that page also states:
you may not be able to install Windows 11
so it’s more of a soft spec than an actual hard minimum.
I have systems from before 2000 that I’m sure would run x86 Linux (especially DSL Linux: [DamnSmallLinux.Org](https://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ and such). Can’t wait to browse using Lynx again :-)

Sorry to hear it didn’t work out as planned for the two of you.
IMHO, relationships should not be about one persons happiness/goals/etc over the other (i.e. wives are not more important than husbands or vice versa). The item mentioned in the original post isn’t going to change anything in their lives (other than bringing one of them a bit of joy).
No complaints here; I just want the wife’s to be happy.
Or Cancun (heard that from someone named Ted).
I agree (and realize) that a simple holiday wouldn’t fix the many ills of our “election system”. Just thought it would help. I’ve heard that England has at least a week to vote [hope that’s true]. Anything that would make it easier and more convenient to vote would be a great help (not suggesting making the process less secure).
That sounds great!
The reasons I was given for first Tuesday in November are:
The idea behind #1 is that it should be harder to bribe you if you have recently been paid. The reason behind #2 is that you will be sober when you vote.
Also, in my state at least, alcohol sales are prohibited while the polls are open for voting.
I’m guessing you might be from Canada (Hello up there friend)!
Because certain groups in power are total pieces of @#$_&-+/!
Which States Ban Giving Food and Water to Voters at Polling Places?
Elections in the US didn’t used to be so controversial, but in the last 10 years certain groups/parties have been crying foul (baselessly I might add) about illegal voting.
You are supposed to be able to go to the polling place on election day and vote. There are limited voting hours (generally about 12 hours), it is not a national holiday (should be), your employer does not have to give you time to vote (paid or not). You might be able to vote via postal mail (but it varies by state what “valid reasons are” to do that).
The US really needs election reform nation wide.
If the wife likes it, mission accomplished!
Just take a chill pill man.
