This has many similarities to how the Canadian Federal election ended up. The conservatives actually grew by more than any other group, the Liberals just barely got a minority win. Their gain came at the sacrifice of our 3 other major parties (though almost always smaller than the other 2), turning Canada more into a 2 party running. Ranked choice is sorely needed to save our multi-party system, but the 2 big parties fear they’ll both lose big of they implement that, and they’re probably right…
