The Five Fingers by Gayle Rivers. Might be one of the goriest books I’ve ever read.

Every day that passes without the 25th Amendment being invoked, Article 2 Section IV of the US Constitution being invoked, or articles of impeachment being filed is a day that every sitting member of Congress announces their complicity in subverting American Democracy.
Every day that passes without the American public taking to the streets in protest is a day that every American citizen announces their complicity in allowing their nation to no longer follow the rule of law.

6·1 day agoSlavery was abolished in the 19th century,
Cute that you think that. Try reading the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution sometime. You’ll find that the USA did not abolish slavery. We just institutionalized it into the penal system. Look up some of the jobs performed by the inmates of the Louisiana state correctional system and then tell me slavery has been abolished.

If that’s the only example available that illustrates the point, then you have not spent enough time thinking through your idea.
Do better.

1010·3 days agoSo, it’s totally cool with you if the kernel that those anti-AI distros runs is being developed with AI?
Seems like a weird line to draw to me. But whatever. Enjoy whatever distro that is, if you find it.
GNU/Hurd maybe?

1·5 days agoI’m not Canadian, weirdo. Also didn’t accuse you of doing “nothing”. Just of deluding yourself into thinking the legal mthods are still viable. You’re living in the past if you think the courts will save you from what’s about to happen.

11·5 days agoIf you’re as much a part of the solution as you claim to be, why hasn’t the 25th Amendment been invoked? Why haven’t artticles of impeachement been filed?
Why, as an American, are you not repeating the lesson taught to you by Los Angelinos in May of 1992? The response to injustice is not “maybe we’ll delude ourselves into thinking the next election will work”.
You’re a full decade past the time when the ballot box was the right box to solve this problem.
Wake up.

12·5 days agoUs peaceful types are mostly unarmed.
Which is exactly why you’re unable to act when the time requires it of you.
There’s a distinct difference between being peaceful and being harmless. You are not peaceful. You’re harmless.
Perhaps its time you reconsidered your stance on possessing the capability to defend yourself against your oppressors.
