A Short Stay In Hell stuck with me to some degree ever since I’ve finished it. It’s somwhere around 100 pages long if I remember corecctly.
It’s quite disturbing but it, somewhat ironically, helped me put things into perspective back when I’ve read it.
Not trying to defend any of the things you listed, I’m not sure though how awful behaviour by side A absolves side B of it’s own share of awful behaviour.
It shouldn’t be a matter of ‘West vs. East’ when, rightfully, calling out awful things.
It should be about the people in power who allow all these atrocities to happen, or even want them to happen, being held accountable. No matter if they are American, European, Chinese or whatever.
Shit just needs to stop.
Really like the aesthetic of this one, although that windmill sure is an eyesore on the landscape.
I’m not a parent yet, but my family grew by some nieces and nephews in recent years.
And while I’m not around them all the time, when I am, it definetly feels refreshing to hear their points of views or have them ask questions about things that I, as an adult, take for granted.
And more often than not these questions lead to new knowledge for myself, when we decide to look for more than just the surface level answers.
So I’d agree with the two listed ‘benefits’ of yours, if given the chance children can be a great opportunity for learning and growing as a person. One needs to make use of that opportunity though. I see a lot of parents dismiss questions with ‘obvious’ answers or even getting somewhat annoyed at times.
I’m not necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with the proposal but to quote the article (translated into english)

Which seems to me more like a factually based proposal than one based on ‘feelings’.
However I’ll agree that if the purpose were to tackle health issues stemming from nutrition there would be better ways to tackle the issue. On the other hand, even while not necessarily the best way to deal with this, coming from a health issue related viewpoint, a decline in growth of big fast food chains like McDonalds, would inadvertely aid in health related issues either way.
Either way I doubt the main goal of this proposal is to improve on health issues though, to me it seems to come from a ecological background.

I just started House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.
Not too far in yet but so far I like it. Definetly on the more unique side concerning the writing style/composition.
Looking forward to make some progress when I’ve got some time to spare again.
