I think about this little piece, all the time. I haven’t read it in a very long time, though. Thank you, for bringing it back to the surface. <3

…“P l A y N i G h T b I r D !”…
I don’t know what’d be a hidden gem, but I adore Moonstruck. It’s a masterpiece of entertainment, acting, and all around beautiful cinematography. The entire cast is phenomenal, and Cage is just…glorious. I’ve practically memorized the whole damned movie, I’ve seen it so many times, over the years. I have an absolute passion for it, and will talk about it for hours with anyone who’d let me.
*Dick Berman
Always Dick Berman. That rickwad
“It’s not like Dan to take his own life!” …Lol, as opposed to, what?
A technically correct, but awkwardly contextualized line that competes with:
Dukat to Winn: “I’ve never seen you look so radiant!” …Never? Never, ever? Buddy, you’ve known her for like, a week…
In addition: Please, only check out TNG “Masks” s7 Ep.17. if - -
You’re fully prepared to laugh at the absurdity of where TNG has gotten to by the tail end of season 7, and/or, you want a surrealist nightmare of the Enterprise set being turned into a 1980s rich person’s indoor pool aesthetic of stepped tile, fake plants and Terra-cotta, the whole cast getting a little tired of the writers not quite conveying the motif they set out for, and Brent Spiner just showing off what a magnificent silly bastard he really is.
Okay… maybe I need to watch Masks, again.
I had long hair during the TNG days, and somewhere in my childhood home, there’s a bathroom drawer or cabinet full of the same kind they used for Geordi’s visor, and similarly painful plastic headbands. I know there’s also a Polaroid or two somewhere of me and a cousin holding them up to our faces, running around saving the Enterprise that was the basement. If I’d only known to bring them around me throughout life, for that nostalgia hit…
Memes you can hear…
Everytime I see this, I can’t help but giggle a little at that magnificent lump, just florpin’ on by, awkward as hell. I love our moon, so much.
To be fair, they pulled this with DS9, first. Slow, thoughtful intro theme, set to a nice visuals? NOT ENOUGH NOISE, ADD TAMBOURINE MAYBE JINGLE BELLS, ONE TEMPO ONLY, SHINK SHINK SHINK SHINK! 🎺 BWAA BWAA BWAA BWAAAA! 🎺
Sorry, I’m still annoyed.
Yes! Marvelous! I’m so happy to see more of your gorgeous work. I just love it - as a concept, and its results; what a damned cool way to art.
My brain originally interpreted this as .palace, not .place, and I think I discovered our house’s true name. C’mon, honey, to the Autism Palace! 🏰
(Also, this is awesome!)
Durka! I thought about his character, too, but I couldn’t remember the actor’s darn name, or character name, only that he also fucked up Moya and her crew, lol. I can absolutely see their resemblance, most definitely. So many menacing pale dudes in great sci-fi shows
Are you maybe thinking of the also fabulous Wayne Pygram (Scorpius), or Shane Briant (Kaarvok)? Cause Steven Berkoff (Hagath), even though he would’ve fit right in, wasn’t on FS, unfortunately… Unless there’s a joke or another reference which I’m missing, which is also 100% possible, lol
Gosh, this is practically audible! It hits some wonderful centers in my brain - your methods, efforts, and the further information you posted give that much more to appreciate. Thank you for sharing!
Those two interchangeable pairs of eyebrows with faces that ‘starred’ in Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets. It could have been incredible with the source material and all that went into it getting made, but nope, not with those two. Wrong kinda movie for both of their…styles?
Yes. I suggest Asimov’s recommended reading order, from I, Robot through Foundation and Earth, including the Empire trilogy. Keep in mind some were written decades apart, regardless of series chronology, so the tone may shift due to the era written and Asimov’s growth as a writer, which can be jarring for a couple pages (primarily getting to the Empire novels, but still great little stories, and I enjoyed the continued lore).
As an avid reader, particularly sci-fi, it’s my very favorite series, from start to finish, and I’d recommend it to anyone - personally, Foundation itself might be my least liked of the group, though that may be for it being a collection of stories put together from the magazines, I found it mildly disjointed, (and I have a tendency to confuse certain character names in that one, haha), but I appreciated it more when my spouse listened to them all on audiobook (PS. Scott Brick is a wonderful Asimov narrator).
Regardless of which, and how you may read them, I hope you enjoy them!
There’s always velcro? Though you may not want to attach it directly to the wall because of paint, you could probably use it to attach something for hanging, to the back. I recently mounted a nearly 10lb, 48"x24" white board directly to a metal door with a single package of adhesive mounting velcro. It wasn’t even intentional, I had a whole over-the-door hook plan worked out for its mounting holes, using the velcro to keep it level and from any movement, and it turned out to be plenty, shockingly strong enough.
It’s actually got me super excited for more hanging of weird things, cause I’ve gotten pretty good with Command Hooks, etc, and often find them wanting… Literally tonight, though I can’t prove the timeliness, had one fall off the wall, that wasn’t holding anything heavier than its load, just an old walking stick. Eventually, they die, and it seems the newer adhesive quality has become subject to enshitification, but I may also be a cynical shite. (งツ)ว
I usually skip this one, because the themes are pretty uncomfortable if you relate to them, but mostly I just can’t unsee Grady Fletcher, the world’s most gullible CPA, and it’s a weird mix of a bit gross and being unable to take his performance seriously. Where’s Aunt Jess to save the day?
