  • If I’m understanding it correctly this generator has like wires out that then connect to the lights or something right?

If that’s the case you’ll need to see what kind of voltage it’s putting out to those wires and then you would want to splice those wires into diodes to prevent the current from leaking backwards out of the capacitors. Then attach as many capacitors as you need for the voltage that it is providing, remembering that it is okay to have higher voltage ratings but not lower voltage ratings.

Chances are this will cause the light to be less bright as the capacitors are charging, so for the first few moments when you are riding it probably will be less bright but after the capacitors reach a steady charge you should see the light take a much longer time to dim down.

  • I think the largest issue you’ll run into is figuring out how to wire it. It definitely sounds like a fun project and possibly an opportunity to try out some of the inexpensive super caps that you can get on eBay for like 3 bucks a piece.

The only caveat I can think of is that you might need to find out how much voltage the generator puts out, as you definitely don’t want to pump more voltage into them than they are rated for.

To do that I would open the device and hook up a multimeter to the Dynamo and then spin it as hard as I can and figure out what it’s peak voltage is and then purchase and or design your super capacitor bank to handle its peak maximum.

You should also check and see if the device has some sort of rectifier, as Dynamo output is typically AC and LED lights are typically DC, so there is likely some sort of rectification. If you do have a rectifier I would measure it after the rectifier.

It may already also have a capacitor in it, in which case you could simply desolder that capacitor and then set up some breakout cables and run those outside of the case into your bank.

You seem to think I have some sort of emotional investment in this and I can assure you that I do not. I’m saying that today’s reality is not tomorrow’s reality and that things can get better, which is a fact and not really up for debate.

As to whether or not they will get better that very much is up to debate, but if you think that being condescending is proving your point then maybe you should take some time and think a little longer.

  • The house I grew up in.

I’ve told this story before but the house was built in like 1976. A freak tornado came down and tore it down when it was 3/4 completed. The builders got the insurance and built it again and when they finished it it caught fire and burned to the ground.

The builders got the insurance and built it again and another tornado came through and destroyed it a week before it was supposed to be completed.

In pythonian fashion the fourth time it stayed up, but one night I was down in the basement doing laundry on a dark and stormy night and I saw a movement to my right. A man in a full trench coat and wide brimmed hat was standing next to the water heater. I screamed as any preteen boy would and the man walked around the water heater and dis a fucking peared.

I ran upstairs screaming there’s a man in the basement there’s a man in the basement and everyone came down to look and there was no man in the basement. The doors were bolted locked from the inside.

A few years later my mom built a room into the basement and turned it into an extra bedroom. My sister woke up one night with a woman clad in all white with long black hair holding her feet down and crying and crying and crying.

She screamed and the woman disappeared.

My mom still lives in that house and will probably die there. That house is fucking haunted and was haunted before it was ever built.

I’ve told this story before and my friends have said maybe it was built on an ancient Indian ground or something and to me that is hilarious because I am native American so why the fuck would they bother me?

  • From what I understand they are still affordable, the cost savings is building it yourself and having the discipline and patience to be able to do something like that on your wages.

Building a tiny home is a grueling and arduous task. There is nothing TurnKey about it.

My cousin built one because his mom lent him some land to build it on and so far it has cost him about $10,000.

That’s pretty good but he lives on a truck driver’s salary and he has a wife and a kid. He’s deeply in debt from his tiny house project and he’s almost done with it.

Once he finishes he’ll be able to claw his way back up out of debt, which is good, but there are no TurnKey solutions that are also affordable.

I get where you’re coming from but in my ideal world we would all work gig jobs and they would provide us enough money to live at the very least at our current lifestyle.

The 40-hour work week is a lie. It’s not needed anymore, and anyone who sits down for 4 hours and analyzes our current economic system would probably agree with me.

You have gotten up onto a high horse about how I am flawed and wrong before checking whether I was on your side.

Besides, the point you are making, while it has its merits, only touches on my point. My point is enjoy what you like. If you like overnight oats just go ahead and eat them.

It doesn’t mean you’re a “peasant eating gruel”. It’s okay to like what you like.

Some people get a kick out of making you feel bad about anything and everything you enjoy by reframing it in the worst possible light.

Oh, you bicycle to work? Enjoy breathing in all that carbon monoxide from the cars passing you and a greatly increased risk of dying due to a driver not thinking that you’re a human being. Hope you don’t cross a street and inconvenience a driver you selfish prick!

Oh, you eat primarily vegetarian with only a little bit of meat? One, meat is still murder, you’re a prick. Two, of course you would mention it. Three, fuck you and your entire family and your entire gene pool you piece of shit.

I could probably keep going but you get it right? Don’t let the things that you enjoy be taken away from you by people who are chasing clout and will say anything that they possibly can in order to get it.

  • I tried navidrome but the issue I ran into is that it would not play individual songs or sort through them, it would just play my albums in alphabetical order.

And I don’t know as far as jelly fin goes, I like it as a video platform but for music I couldn’t get it to just randomly display the songs and let me shuffle through them.

I’m looking for a music server that can see all of my songs and music and shuffle them and play them. Does anything like that exist?

  • Cheapest TV you can find that has the specs that you are interested in combined with a $50 pawn shop laptop and an inexpensive wireless keyboard and mouse.

Linux is optional but highly encouraged.

Connect that to a USB dac which is then piped into an amplifier for 2.0 sound.

I could probably rig up a subwoofer for a little extra oomph but none of the amplifiers I found at the thrift store have a way to turn off a powered amp or power an unpowered one.

  • I don’t truly in my heart of hearts believe that selling your soul to the devil is possible. The logical Christianity in me says that anyone who would offer to sell their souls is already likely going to hell and so the devil has no need to purchase, and that is further tempered by the idea that All souls are the property of God and you can’t sell something you don’t own.

That being said, if I had to pick one person on this planet who I had to testify before a grand jury that I believed they had sold their souls to the devil I would pick Donald J Trump.

The man has no skills. He didn’t even write his book The art of the deal. He was born into wealth but many people are born into wealth and fall into poverty and yet somehow despite an entire lifetime of financial ineptitude he is still wealthy.

He has done so much shady shit that any person who did not have the protection of a dark force would be in prison right now for and he is currently under indictment for several Grand felonies and he still running for president and still has a snowball’s chance in hell of winning.

He has 35% of American voters believing in him. Nearly 100 million people willing to throw their once every 4 years chance for deciding the fate of America to him.

His wife is a model and even though he’s cheated on her credibly with a pornstar, Stormy Daniels, and had a lawyer pay her off with election funds, she has not divorced him.

If Donald J Trump is not the servant of Satan, signed and bound in an eternal contract, then the fact that he exists is a scathing indictment of the flaws of modern capitalism and why the whole system should be burnt to the ground.

  • I’m going to keep saying this until it sticks. The most profitable and valuable thing that human beings have ever discovered or created is information disparity.

Everyone basically knows the phrase that knowledge is power, but very few people know how to capitalize on that power.

The way that you capitalize on the power of knowledge is through information disparity.

Say for instance, you are at a flea market. You see a very good quality copy of action comics number one with Superman on the cover. You ask the seller how much they want for it and they say oh those are my sons old comics, I’ll sell you the whole box for $5.

Anyone who knows anything about valuable stuff knows that action comics number one is worth it the minimum a million dollars in decent condition.

Now you know that for $5 you can get a million dollars. That is how knowledge is power. That is how information disparity works.

Find ways that you can use information disparity in your favor (without bilking kindly old ladies out of million dollar antiques preferably) and you too will find yourself far more successful than your actual skills and abilities would otherwise qualify you for.

  • How is your insulation between your ceiling and the roof?

A radiant barrier helps but it’s not going to be a match for fully functioning r22 batting or anything.

And you might want to consider replanting shade trees now that the old ones have been removed. Once it’s the same height as your house it puts out as much equivalent cooling as a window air conditioner, and during the summer that’s money in your bank.

And honestly, since you live in Texas and you’re paying $285 a month for electricity, looking into some sort of solar might be well worth it.

If you have a larger property like my dad did down near Austin, you could probably do a ground mounted solar install and save a lot of money on the installation which is where with current rates the majority of the costs go to installing solar.
