My Fostex X00 for electronic music with a big beat. Nothing beats that biodynamic bass, if you know you know.

The more you get sucked into reading and listening to people’s opinions on gear, the more likely you are to develop FOMO. The way people talk about $1000 sound is just not the same way they talk about $50 sound, even if the $50 sound is 95% as good. I definitely fell victim to this and splurged on some TOTL IEMs. I don’t necessarily regret it but I also don’t think they sound 10x better than other cheaper sets. I did want to eliminate the feeling of FOMO though and I accomplished that.
FWIW I also rock the 6XX at home and the S12 Pro was the IEM I upgraded from. Both are absolutely excellent in their own right and are endgame worthy. There’s no real reason to chase the dragon any further unless you have money to burn.
I bought a second-hand pair of Bose QC35 for like $80. Then they started having this issue where they would turn on by themselves. I Googled a bit and it turned out that it was a known issue and Bose would often replace them. So I submitted a ticket and got a brand new pair of QC45 as a replacement. Good deal! At least it was until I broke up with my GF and never got them back. Oh well, easy come easy go.
For anybody unfamiliar, Australian dollars are worth less than the plastic they’re printed on, so these are indeed good deals
Headphones, debatable, but IEMs, the difference is night and day. A good $30-40 set like the Cadenza, Hola, 7hz Zero, etc. in 2023 absolutely trounces $100+ sets from 5-10 years ago. Then you’ve got your $1000+ tribrids and whatnot. IEMs are where the innovation is at.
They’re good indeed. Truthear rarely miss. The Hola are the go-to Harman budget set that’s a bit warmer than the 7hz Zero, and both the Truthear Zero models are great too.
Something something wallet
Those two for $250 are a pretty good deal. Or they would be if I didn’t already have a Qudelix.
I listen to a lot of rock and punk and I went with the Prestige LTD over the Monarch 3. Less of the massive massive bass slam on the Prestige LTD but I preferred everything else about them. Mids come through nice and clear. Give them a listen if you can.
Congrats! I went for the Prestige LTD myself. What are the speakers in the background?
I just bought a TOTL Thieaudio Prestige LTD. I spent hours auditioning different ones to make sure that this particular IEM can handle every genre of music that I listen to.
I made the purchase for peace of mind - now I KNOW I will never want anything more. I am planning to give away all my cheaper IEMs.
Stupid expensive, yes, but if you can afford it, then it’s up to you whether you can justify the cost or not.
You have an IE200 and Hexa and you mentioned using the Timeless etc. Why do you need more $200 IEMs?
I’m on the way back from the store with a Thieaudio Prestige LTD. This was a massive purchase for me. I couldn’t afford to upgrade any further even if I wanted to. Consider me quit!
I don’t doubt his knowledge but I find listening to Crinacle speak to be kind of unbearable. He’s so smug and idk really off-putting.
The blue Zero are seriously great! Really fun listen.
What kind of cases?
I don’t use them for electronic music with a strong beat. But for everything else…they’re just so smooth and easy to listen to.
What is up with some people? You’d scam someone out of one of their possessions rather than give them the advice that they can be easily fixed? I know you said these are provided by the company but god damn.
