Even if they did (they won’t), they can pry my mini out of my hot, irradiated hands.
I think the best we could hope for is a simple firmware update, assuming enough of the right people make noise about it. I’m sure Apple would much rather we all just bought new phones though, so they won’t do anything unless they have to.
Oh I didn’t mean to imply otherwise - Overcast is awesome.
I guess I worded my question poorly. I’m more asking if there’s any way to block trackers without blocking the entire podcast.
The stream/download just hangs, or errors out because it “cannot connect to creep.noteventhehost.fm” or whatever - just won’t load at all until I unblock and it’s able to do its dirty work.
Not sure if this is even within the capabilities of a client… I’m starting to think not, and that I’ve asked a stupid question lol
Honestly insurance is such a scammy nightmare.
We used https://squareone.ca for like ten years (in Ontario) and they actually turned out to be pretty great when I ended up filing a claim on a damaged computer.
Chose them principally based on the fact you could build your own policy and instantly sign up online, without any phone calls or the other typical “request a quote so we (and all the companies we sell your info to) can harass you forever” bullshit.
Since we finally bought last year we’re with CAA now, but only because sq1 didn’t offer homeowners.
Worth looking into anyway.
I’d be interested to see how they isolated use of AI from, well, everything else that’s happened in the last three years.
We are more stressed, burned out, socially isolated, broke, and pessimistic than ever.
The findings do make sense I think, if AI is replacing interpersonal collaboration and already dwindling social contact within that larger context, combined with the knowledge that (in my case, anyway) the very tool you’re using also poses a threat to your own financial future.
Mlem is coming along nicely. It’s a far cry from Apollo, but I feel for the devs in this space; they weren’t ready! It’s a lot all at once.
I’ve been flipping between mlem and kbin (as a pwa for now)
Kbin does have a bit more to offer right now in terms of customization, but it’s barely out of prototype phase itself. You can have a compact mode experience there, but both options are limited and struggling to catch their breath, in their own ways.
Mlem just implemented comment collapsing which I definitely appreciate.
At the same time I’m not mad about the lack of polish in this stage. A lot of the things people hated about reddit came from a particular type of mean-spirited and/or low-effort user… maybe the requirement of a little effort and patience/empathy on our parts now could be to our ultimate benefit :)
I don’t even watch sports and I get buried in gambling ads.
Only started after moving to a somewhat struggling blue collar town, but it was immediate, and the pure volume of it was shocking. Really hit me wrong.
Adblock and VPN everywhere possible now. Degoogling, containerized browsing, hardened settings, like damn basic privacy shouldn’t have to be so much work.
