And if we hold people personally liable, I’m more on board with that. I just would not touch taxpayer dollars for municipal, state, or federal funds with these suits.
The plastic producers were the ones pushing the grift and controlling the narrative/studies, just like what was done with fossil fuels and climate change (certainly a trend here with the oil industry).
Additionally, they’re the ones that directly benefitted the most so it makes sense to go after their fraudulent gains.
I’m all for being critical of municipalities and elected officials, but the solution is not to bankrupt cities or state/federal funds through litigation. The focus should be on the producers. Go to the top of the chain/follow the money.
Edit: To your point about news conglomerates, that seems more viable and they certainly need better incentives and regulation.

I stand by SNW and LD. Strange New Worlds is a solid return to form and Lower Decks was the kitschy fan service with a lot of heart that I needed after some horrendously bleak years in real life near the end of the 2010s and through the pandemic.
I think both are doing a good job of keeping up with the times as past series have done when they aired. Cannot make it through Discovery, though. That one just did not grab me, despite me wanting it to and giving it multiple shots because I was stoked for Michelle Yeoh and Doug Jones.
I hope someone is writing this novel already, but there’s definitely some gold in a story featuring witness tampering and faking DNA signatures for recently deceased witnesses to take the stand.
I’m out of Dresden Files novels, so this would definitely scratch my urban fantasy/magipunk itch.

That decision also depends on which knuckle it needed to be amputated past. This quote makes me think it’s just amputating from the top knuckle up, which is really just your fingernail. You still keep a lot of use out of the finger in that case.
Edit: Even if it’s the second knuckle and up, you’d still have a solid amount of grasping utility with that finger.
I’d really rather it not, though.
