  • Most of the discourse was about Omarchy/DHH, not just Hyprland, though that was a part of it. It is not purity testing to block people who don’t work well with others or are hateful like DHH from a community. If you want to bring people who want us dead into a community then everyone else is going to leave

    The main problem is

    1. Np contributed to and glazes Omarchy
    2. People wonder why DHH was sponsored with hardware
    3. Generic response about “big tent” ideology to include everyone - including racists and transphobes like DHH
    4. People are upset because they don’t want to be in a Nazi Bar
    5. NP makes twitter post about how people want to ascribe values to him he doesn’t hold, that he’s pro immigrant and pro lgbt
    6. Np responds in forum thread that they reviewed hyprland and determined that theyd improved their moderation and were ok to sponsor (monetarily)
    7. Framework responds they’ll make a blog post clarifying their sponsorships
    8. Blog post coincidentally excludes omarchy
    9. People question it and basically just get a “we will get that updated” response
    10. I still dont see it there

You cant claim to be pro immigrant and pro lgbt when you actively invite white supremacists and transphobes into the community and then try to avoid responsibility for that by not commenting or not retracting support or not clarifying how you’d avoid it going forward

The project may not be political (it is) but the people who use and support the project definitely are. If you want to kick out the community by inviting Nazis, then all that will be left once those people leave will be nazis. And if you knowingly collaborate with Nazis, you are a nazi.

Oftentimes people ignore that depression is also a product of a system that prioritizes profit over everything else including mental and physical health. You can go to therapy all you want but it doesnt put more money in your pocket or lower prices to lower financial stress, decrease food insecurity, doesnt increase job security and satisfaction, doesnt give you back the time your employment has robbed from you, doesnt improve relationships and your ability to form them, doesnt make third places pop into existence, etc. Therapy cant remove those factors that cause depression in the first place. I have increasingly heard stories of people going to therapy only for the therapists to realize that they literally cant do anything about the stressors because modern life is so systematically stacked against the individual.

Depression can cause permanent changes to your brain and thought patterns which makes it more likely for you to relapse or slip back into negative thought patterns if the right pressures are added, which is constant today. Therapy can provide alternative ways of thinking and coping mechanisms but cant completely remove those pressures which are outside of your control.

Then after retirement and benefits it’s anywhere from 20% to 50%. I’m at about 25% just with tax, 36% with benefits and retirement.

Depending on if your deductions are calculated correctly (you have to negotiate that with your job) you might end up getting a refund layer or have to pay, so in reality my rate is more like 30% overall. People with more expensive insurance or less tax credits and or other things on top of that are going to have it worse off.

I make half what I would need to be able to afford buying a home in my area and be able to make mortgage payments and still have money left
