Fuck it. I’ll just say this instead. It’s time to break up the tech monopolies. Google, Microsoft, etc.

If they have it, direct support is the best way. Like Patreon for instance.
You’d be surprised how things can change, and quickly. It’s not going to be a overnight win for another platform. It’s going to have to start from the ground up, in probably a decentralized way, but it can happen.
We don’t know that yet. I dislike Kotick as well, but doubtful that much changes from the monetization standpoint of the company.
From a purely morale standpoint, it’s mostly a W. But it’s not like Kotick isn’t getting his golden parachute and wiping his tears away with $100 bills.
No I’m saying, imo, they’re wasting a lot of energy on trying to get adblock users to stop using adblockers. Just my take, is all.
They’re serving ads just fine. They’re now targeting those that don’t want the ads and actively try to avoid them. That’s the main difference.
Issues like these will spur action though. I’m excited to see what comes out to compete.
Plenty of ways. Targeting your most intensive tech crowd is not the way to do it. You want the masses that don’t actively try and block their stupid ads. This will eventually bite them in the ass harder then it’s currently doing.
We’ve replaced Kotick with Microsoft lol
These ad block users should be considered the cost of doing business and they should be careful with targeting them.
This kind of thing springs users into action to either find or use work arounds or create a alternative platform.
I told everyone that once contracts for cell phones were replaced with payment plans, companies would start gouging their customers with higher phone prices because the customers could now “afford” it.
Greedy ain’t the right word imo.
High positions of power/money/fame tend to attract those types unfortunately.
A lot of stuff has been boring to watch lately, imo. I’ve been on and off the rabbit hole that is YouTube. However, ive been watching movies like the “dark knight” and others. Great movies to rewatch and enjoy while playing some live service games.
I’m a matrix homer. Love all 3 movies (even though I still believe 2 and 3 could have been one single, extended movie).
I went hardcore into the allegories the film has/had and dug deeper into what the matrix is and what goes on elsewhere (watch animatrix). If you ignore some of the story telling faults (a lot of movies in the 80-90s easily fell into some tropes) then I think you’ll have a lot of fun with it.
What they meant to say was “We didn’t have the foresight to monetize these heavy users, so we will be doing that now. But first we’ll create the problem…”
Won’t matter. As soon as those alternatives get big enough, they’ll either sell out or look for more ways to maximize profits. The Internet is wholely infected by corporations now. Just need better ways to beat them back somehow.
For me, I wouldn’t say it’s more enjoyable per se. I miss looking into interesting topics. However, I do find myself focusing on my business more which I guess is a bonus. But outside of that, it’s very disappointing the enshitification of the Internet that’s occurring.
Always been part of the plan: de regulate, corner the market, profit.
It’s a tactic to pit us against each other rather then the proper people running to the bank.
Gotta start somewhere.
