Always happy to help people move away from MS
This sounds amazing. One mode you can be a cat stuck in a house with 3 other cats that don’t get along. You have to try to drop a deuce without getting attacked, you have to mark territory without making your “owner” upset about peeing in the house.
Hoffy
I ate lunch and my cat pooped, anyone else want to mention two random events?
Yep, and RedHat would be asses to try, it’s not like they made Linux.
What does it do for the blind community, like text to audio conversion or something?
What type of tools does the blind community use? I can code, I’d love to make a tool to help out.
Why would devs remove something like this, at this time? Is it causing huge problems larger than the problems removing it would cause?
Makes me wonder if the devs are being paid to cripple lemmy. This is where open source shines, we don’t have to be held hostage to one product/service.
I’m loving the innovation in the fediverse, and all the people seeing issues, bringing them up, and people at least attempting to fix.
The fediverse is the real internet, it’s not a company providing a service. On the real internet, once something gets out there, there can never be a guarantee that it’s taken back. Even on Reddit, once you post something, Reddit might fully delete it but someone out there may have copied it.
I sure hope there’s a large group of servers that refuse to federate with servers run for profit. I didn’t come to be a product and be manipulated with algorithms.
I will remove myself from any servers that federate with Meta.
Wow me neither, looks promising!
And a non-capitalist society could decide to invest resources into preservation even if it’s not profitable.
Awesome! I wish them success!
I think the way Lemmy federation works is kinda perfect and I feel like things will mostly sort themselves out after a while. Like, I can foresee large and small islands of federated servers, and while that might not seem good at first, I think it can work.
For example, I might have two Fediverse users, one I use in the “mainstream” island, and another I use in not-mainstream servers that has more controversial topics. A kid might have a user in a kids appropriate island where there is no federation with servers containing adult content.
Maybe a Lemmy client can then combine content from my two users, so I can view content from the mainstream and my alt servers together.
Capitalism has no interest in preservation except where it is profitable. Thinking about the long-term future, archaeologist’s success and acting on it is not profitiable.
That’s funny, I’m testing YouTube alternatives.
I think we’ll eventually find out once we create a true super intelligence that all it really wants is to chill and play, and laugh at the familiar.
Nooooo!!! (Actually I’ve never tried Emacs)
