Agreed. I explained more in a sibling comment, but this always confused me…

The “they want to be even” explanation is what I remeber being told by the urologist who untwisted me. I was, to be fair, young and in pain, so I don’t know that I remember clearly.
(Also, it was around 25-30 years ago, so I get to be wrong about this.)

Apparently (and this is from memory, so caveat emptor) when young the balls can be uneven. During puberty, one might say “Oh no! I must become even!” and twist up on itself.
This is resovled (at least in my case) with a local anesthetic and manual untwisting. Followed by a procedure where they sew your balls to your sack so they can’t try it again.

I had this as a teenager. Would not recommend.

Where does “two comedians listen to and critically analyze Alex Jones” fit?

Off the top of my head, no. I’m just pointing out that there’s time to respond before things get shitty. This isn’t Redis rug-pulling their license. The community can be considered. Thoughtful.

This does suck, but there’s time. I doubt the actual legal hand over has happened yet, and OpenAI is (likely, I don’t actually know) an absolute mess, HR/structure-wise, internally. If the aquisitions I’ve been a part of in the past are any indication, there’s a 1-2 year ramp before things really start to go to shit within Astral (assuming there isn’t an immediate massive exodous of talent). Or I’m totally wrong!
If you’re rich enough, you can pay people to try for you. Which, over relatively short time lines, is kinda like being able to.

I haven’t found a solid answer for this…does XMPP support proper history nowadays? I remember using XMPP servers back around 2012 and if you didn’t have your client open, you just missed messages in rooms. If that’s still the case, ut’s a lretty significant draw back…
You could fit both of those cars inside a Canyonero!

“Children of Time” surprised me quite a bit. It was a gift from a family member. One of those “oh…they like sci-fi…” kind of gifts. And it was really good.

They are untrustworthy, and some like to bite cars.

Swans.

ICE has some reporting requirements that they are (Maybe? To some extent?) still following.
This tool was doing some collection for that: https://github.com/Open-Security-Mapping-Project/ice_detention_scraper
(Development has hit a bit of a snag recently unfortunately.)

I was hoping to hear “I am moving away because the JVM sucks to administer”…oh well. A man can dream.

Java 8 was a thing for a long time (source administered Hadoop clusters that were - and possibly still are - stuck on Java 8).
Java 8 was analogous to 1.8…for reasons.
I wanna say Java 11 (the version after 8) came out around 2011? After that the release cadence was somewhat steady. I think Java 21 landed around 2021?
(Note: I refuse to actually look any of this up.)
Edit: my refusal to look anything up immediately bites as someone else pointed out:
(Note: I continue to refuse to actually look anything up)

They keep the feature list fairly up to date:

There must be in-groups that the law protects but doesn’t bind, and out-groups that the law binds but doesn’t protect.
