If you’re turned on like her, maybe consider reading “Crash” by J. G. Ballard. I swear it’s not smut.

Sport climber here. “Power Screaming” is a well- known technique to boost power during individual hard moves. Adam Ondra is famous for his strategic screaming, see his ascent of Silence. I regularly use it myself to increase core and grip strength.

8·5 months agoThe achievement in question is the preparation of the neutral atoms, which realize qubits, on this grid. Controlling the placement of such a large number of individual atoms with just light is a somewhat recent breakthrough that is now maturing.
Addressing the atoms and letting them interact is an entirely different beast, but the prerequisite of placement is just as important.
To the practicing statisticians out there: Is BLUE at all relevant in the field? Even if you can formulate your data/problem as a linear regression, wouldn’t maximum likelihood estimation still be the preferred method in most scenarios? Edit: Of course Bayesian analysis is of equal relevance here!
New Zealand also has penguins. But there is no (map) love for NZ.
Where we droppin’, chat?
I imagine Waterbags could also be a great one.

People how know what an expectation value is are typically not so fond of gambling. Reminds me of the story when a physics conference took place in Las Vegas and resulted in a really low take for the casino.

0·1 year agoI work on quantum systems coupled to noisy environments (noisy as in causing random fluctuations). Atoms coupled to a light field are my specialty. Anyway, I just got invited by a predatory journal in the field of acoustics, vibrations and noise?!
Except they know that they would have to cover the apple in a thin metallic layer for it to be observable under an electron microscope :D

To even think that there are universes where we can’t stop after second order perturbation theory in the fine structure constant. Scary thought.
