do you know you can also convert subreddit into RSS feeds ? don’t know if it will work after 1 july but it’s an option
yes, i began to test : some post are real advertising and are annoying. You should be more selective on the RSS sources
good idea : you can have a look to ‘beehaw’ instance comminities : it can be a good base for your project
I don’t think so : in mastodon, people knows they can federate. After trial and error process, they choose their instance based on reliability, moderation and the topics inside.
I think lemmy/kbin will follow the same path.
reddit ? what is it ? a new platform ? is there anybody here who knows what it is ?
i miss some reddit communities, but for a basic usage, lemmy/jerboa replaces reddit without problem.
i wonder if all this big social platform will not end with lots of fake profile feeded with chatgpt. For your information, I’m NOT a chatgpt comment 😜
yes, i agree : there should be an option to subscribe to the ‘global’ community or only to the ‘local’ community
you’re right. it’s not really a big deal if you know how lemmy works and understand you subscribe to a ‘local’ community.
well, it’s confusing for new user like me : you have the feeling that as soon as you subscribe to a community, you interact with the same community on all instances. Forbid duplicate names could be a solution
well, you know that chatgpt becomes more and more human because i know lot of people repeating always the same jokes 😁
i would never watch youtube if i cannot use newpipe : as soon as youtube blocks newpipe, exodus to peertube may happen
The possibility to follow hashtags in mastodon is a real progress : i just follow a few account but i like following hashtags on mastodon/pixelfed and may be tomorrow peertube. lemmy suffer from lack of contents. I hope it will improve in the comming months
As long as a hardware will be sold with microsoft/google/twitter/facebook by default, no chance fediverse replace all these well-established applications. BUT it’s not a problem for me : i use what i like, open-source, and i let other use what they want.
i tried lemmy a few months ago but i didn’t find enough content. I’m happy to see popularity is going up, and the new android app is a real game changer
