Maybe it would’ve if governments taxed them properly and spent that money to save the planet

This feels like the dot com bubble all over again.
If only we could prod decision makers at the big software companies to actually support Linux…
Those fucks are way too greedy though. I mean AutoCAD hasn’t even got any significant feature updates in years let alone support for any platform other than Windows and they still charge insane prices for it just cause they can. And at the end of the day me and everyone at work are all stuck on shitty Windows.
Lol what if Shatner played Picard and Stewart played Kirk
Right? Even from a purely selfish perspective, this is unwarranted and wanton whereas if you go after a company you can make money.
What a shock that companies that own both real estate and grocery stores create favourable leases for their grocery stores. /s
I’m hoping the crazy situation in the US will get well educated Americans and big corpos to migrate to Canada so we can get that free boost to our economy.
It’s very much workaholic here like I imagine it is in the US. I’d be cool to ‘take a year off’ and move to Costa Rica just to see what it’s like. Maybe being less stressed is worth it no matter the lack of infrastructure.
That second paragraph… I know what you mean. I like imagining myself living in Australia or somewhere else that’s warmer but long term Canada will probably be the best place to be for trying to survive climate change.
The main thing that holds us back sociopolitically is probably our proximity to the US.
It’s funny how in these kinds of articles it’s implied that there’s some magic place out there unaffected by corporate greed where everyone is moving to but in reality there is no escape from the rising cost of living.
Other countries have strengths in different places that might be better for some people’s specific situations, but overall Canada’s still obviously a great place to live.
My bad, Reddit is still owned by an American company but Tencent has a large stake in it since 2019, at least enough to influence the platform into complying with pro-CCP censorship and etc
Yeah that’s possible too. It’s all speculation until the Netflix documentary comes out years later lol
It’s possible it was a initially pump and dump that turned into a Saudi funded venture. He’s a useful idiot from the Arabs’ perspective.
Thanks for pointing that out. It’s just so normal to think that way here that they’ve even corrupted me into framing climate change that way. It’s not a left wing topic; it’s a reality.
I just hope young people who are thinking of voting conservative here keep in mind that those assholes literally don’t believe in climate change and by extension science and facts. That alone should automatically disqualify conservatives from anyone’s consideration.
Though it’s only tangentially related to your inquiry, you should check out improvethenews.org
It’s basically what you are looking for but with news stories, though it’s primarily focused American news. It allows you to read the different narratives without actually visiting cancer news sites like Sky news.
This seems like further confirmation of that theory that I saw posted on here that the Saudi oil barons funded Elon’s purchase of Twitter for the sole purpose of destroying it. They want to silence online discussions of climate change and other left wing topics.
Combined with Reddit being owned by Tencent, Facebook being eternally evil, and TikTok being unconducive to any form of coherent dialogue, there are not many places for left wing discourse on the internet anymore.
This eclipse is only hitting eastern Canada correct?
Apt analysis. Your infatuation with Borges conforms with my own.
However I would interpret it this way: Spinoza was not wrong. You are a tiger made to act like a sheep. The sheep skin you don is society’s expectations of you, weighing you down, making you act a certain way. Eternally, you want to be a tiger like a stone wants to be a stone. You long to be Faust because you are Faust.
Thank you. I will say that I listed a lot permadeath roguelikes and not everyone is into those. They can be very frustrating.
Energy credits — what a bunch of vacuous rhetoric.
The reality is that it’s energy being taken away from the overall grid, requiring a larger grid and thus prolonging our dependence on non renewable energy while we build up renewable sources.
If we weren’t so wasteful with our energy we wouldn’t need as much of it and it’d be easier to go fully renewable.
