Mad fact: in 1961-62, the first season after the FA stopped having a mandated maximum wage for players, Alf Ramsey’s Ipswich won the league. Since then, all but five English titles have been won by clubs playing in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds or Birmingham.
