Not really but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.
I’m planning on getting a GS. I could just as easily go get a Rolex (with the availability exception) but I much prefer enjoying a good watch under the radar. Rarely anyone knows what a GS is but everyone knows a Rolex.
No matter how precisely you mill the threads and the case, the surface will always be slightly uneven microscopically. Water can, when under pressure, enter the watch through the holes these uneven surfaces make.
A gasket is soft and squishy, and when you put it between two such uneven surfaces it will fill the unevenness, preventing the water entering the watch.
It is. I have 20ish cm wrist and if anything I wish the watch was a mm bigger but it wears great.
She doesn’t need to wear it while nursing, lol, she can just as well keep it in the drawer for special occasions.
