Lol cars last more than “a few years”, my current vehicle is 20 years old. I’ll easily get another 150,000 miles out of it, probably more. I already have a crate motor picked out to swap in when the engine finally dies. Or I could just “upgrade” to a newer year and still be non-networked.
Now I’m being a little silly, but at this rate of climate change acceleration, I’m starting to bet that my current vehicle is going to outlive capitalism anyway.
Yeah, so the thing is, any amount of trust that I had has already been completely destroyed. “We don’t do it anymore because it’s illegal, trust me bro” isn’t going to cut it. Does the bill include mandatory prison time for executives for violations, or just cost-of-doing-business fines? Will this be enforced by a government regulatory body that is not literally outnumbered 20:1 by car manufacturer lawyers?
If the car has any kind of network capabilities and 100% of the car’s software is not open source, I’m not buying it. Period.
This bill would not need to exist if cars were FOSS, or if cars were non-networked. Those are the only 2 solutions that I will accept. This bill is worthless to me.
What about extreme violations of privacy? Let me know when that is “out”, too.
In order to change the 2 party system, we require ranked choice voting. First-past-the-post voting only works when selecting between 2 choices.
I’m not really qualified to give marriage advice, but if you want to hear an opinion based on no real life experience anyway, here goes:
I’d personally just do the box mix for pancakes that she wants, if it is something particular and special for her, as a show of good faith, and cook other meals the way you like, as long as you are the one cooking.
she would rather I just open the mix, add water, and make the food.
Wait, why does she care if you are the one making it?
I make almost all my meals from scratch.
I watch a lot of CNN (I am a progressive), because I like to yell at the TV. You can’t convince me that CNN (and all corporate media really) is not just blatant controlled opposition
America is wild! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_divisionism Texas maybe legally has the right to choose to just divide itself into 5 states at any time
Omg absolutely, what a workhorse. I ended up slapping on a custom vBIOS, aggressive overclock, and swapped the AIB’s air cooler for a little closed loop 120mm water cooler. I ran it until it died in 2020, and if it was still functional today, I’d still be using it. RIP what a loss. The 6GB of VRAM were starting to get tight and DX12 was starting to age it, though, but it was still totally holding up for what I use a GPU for.
Now I am on a 6900XT with the navi21 XTXH chip in it. I bet I’ll skip at least as many generations with this as I did with the 980Ti. It’s so fast and efficient. In some games, the fans don’t even spin, and it just passively cools with the heatsink.
I play on a CRT in either 1600x1200@85Hz or 1024x768@120Hz capping it at 170fps in 85Hz or 360fps in 120Hz, and it holds those solid and stable in the games that I play. I’m not interested in 4k gaming or anything silly like that (but I’m sure others would say that I’m the silly one lol). The biggest factor that was holding me to the 980Ti was the flawless onboard DAC and native analog output. In order to use the 6900XT, I dropped a bunch of money on a DAC with a VMM2322 for it
I remind myself “it’s just life” and that “no one makes it out of life alive”
A tiny bit of nihilism goes a long way
Wait for real??? You make an NVIDIA account now? I haven’t had an NVIDIA card since my 980Ti… Is this account insanity true for the proprietary Linux driver too?

Pretty sure it’s still just twitter
Downvoters need to read some peer reviewed studies and not lap up whatever BS comes from OpenAI who are selling you a bogus product lmao. I too was excited for summarization use-case of AI when LLMs were the new shiny toy, until people actually started testing it and got a big reality check
LLMs are especially bad for summarization for the use case of presenting search results. The source is just as critical of information for search as the information itself, and LLMs obfuscate this critical source information and combine results from multiple sources together…
LLMs are TERRIBLE at summarization
Ha, had no idea it was pronounced like that. I’ve always said MATE like “date”/“rate”/“fate”
Have you tried working-class solidarity? Why not support people who are working together to better their lives and the lives of their peers?
