Is it about to repeat it in Iran?English6·8 hours agoThis is going to be the breaking point if we actually put boots on the ground in Iran and don’t just engage in drone terrorism and bombing runs. More military action in the middle east is a ubiquitously unpopular platform, and wars that are perceived as pointless have almost always been devastating to ruling party / presidential support. Further, the US military has been struggling to hit its recruitment numbers for years now, and this isn’t going to help that. It also stretches the government’s attention even further, and makes it more vulnerable to dissident activity at home.

three_trains_in_a_trenchcoat@piefed.socialto News@lemmy.world•Sen. Alex Padilla is forcibly removed from DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's news conferenceEnglish61·8 days agoImportant: this happened right after Noem said that they were staying in LA to “liberate” it from the socialist mayor and governor. Padilla stood up, introduced himself, and said he had questions for Secretary Noem, then he started getting shoved out of the room and arrested.
three_trains_in_a_trenchcoat@piefed.socialto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Anyone actually say during an interview that the reason they want the job was because they need money?English9·8 days agoI did, while in high school and well before I realized I had ADHD and probably autism too, given the familiar behaviors in my diagnosed kids. That’s relevant because I had to work hard at learning social norms and conventions for stuff like interviews. Wal-mart offered me the job anyway, but I missed out on it because I missed the call and kept forgetting to check my voicemail.
The way I’m reading this is that poor and middle income folks are so squeezed that they can’t meaningfully contribute to spending on anything that isn’t a necessity. This is untenable, and really not the world I want for us.
