I think Jim Brown is a good parallel. He played 9 seasons, same as MJ before his first retirement, before retiring at the age of 30. He is still considered to be the greatest running back in NFL history and probably top 5 player of all time. I think Jordan would have been viewed the same way.
I don’t see a jump from last year, his stats are virtually the same. 15.9 vs 14.9 PPG last year, 53.1 vs 53.7 eFG%, 0.375 vs 0.370 3-pt. Per 36 number may look a bit better since his minutes are down a bit, but this is small sample size.
Frankly, Knicks should be able to resign him in the $15-20M range. He is a great 6th man, but I am not sure he’d be a starter on a top-6 team, not unless he shows more. His options will be limited because most of the offers will be at the mid-level, I am not sure that teams with salary cap room will be willing to shell it out for him.
