That’s a great point you made. As the fediverse grows it will become much more harder to control… The good thing is that the suggestion algorithm of Mastodon is more based in the community you build by following others
i think the only way it could work is with the community notes model, but perhaps with more of a “your choice” fediverse flare: perhaps your instance can bless specific users whose notes get higher pirority etc
Mastodon doesn’t have any fact checking either.
Not sure how that would work, but it may be something worth exploring.
