People always seem shocked to find their local judge is a piece of shit but the reality is that it’s an elected office that doesn’t have many requirements to run. You technically don’t even need a law degree. Small towns can have a few large families back a candidate and that’s enough to win. Then once in they usually won’t see many people running against them in future elections unless they fuck up.
