I would prefer if we have a single thread for every game

I agree. I guess there’s more engagement on a single thread for all the games, but I really wish we could get individual game threads going, and the key, get them active. I could create an individual game thread for my team’s games, but I feel like it would just be me posting.

Holy shit a game thread. I didn’t think these are even allowed in this community. I didn’t even bother to look today. Usually on Sundays I come to this community at least like three or four times wanting to talk about what happened in a football game seeing there’s no game thread and then leaving. It’s almost like this entire community cannot succeed without game threads and they are pivotal to the success of a fan community.

In !cfb@fanaticus.social, we’d use a thread like this one, and do a parent comment for each game. It’s not followed perfectly, but no biggie. It works kinda like this:

    Jags vs Bears @ London

That’s not perfect, but I like it better than a thread with posts of games all mixed up. (And it’s better than nothing I guess.)

For the NFL it would likely work a little better if people just post a thread for the game(s) they want to talk about. Even with the limited interest on Lemmy, CFB can get a little chaotic. Until and unless posting volume gets crazy though, it does also work a bit like a RedZone thread.

The biggest issue is that the overlap of people who prefer to post on lemmy and people who want to post about American football in real time is pretty small. :-)

The Browns offense is so bad. The Browns defense has scored a TD, the offense has two FGs. They’re still just down a touchdown somehow.

They’d have won this game with Jameis Winston in. I wonder how many more weeks of this until they start him.

    Cincinnati @ new york

Did they say that Joe burrow Goes to sleep every night at 9 pm? Cuz if so I think that might be a flaw in his performance when it comes to night games.

    I don’t see a Monday game thread. So…

How the hell is that pancake block considered unnecessary roughness? He put him on the ground and then laid on him. That’s what you’re supposed to do. The game is aggressive.

Raiders Steelers went about as expected. Rooted for AOC cuz he’s such a likeable guy but he’s not the answer. I just started laughing after the fumble at the goal line, you can’t make that shit up. RIP this season, I’ve made my peace with it lol. Bring on the tank! 🏴‍☠️
