Victims of major public corruption cases in Pennsylvania and Illinois are angry that President Joe Biden granted clemency this week to the two convicted officials.
So this looks like a case of local officials letting these people out of jail and to house arrest when clearly they shouldn’t be. It’s the same as some welfare recipients abuse the system, but should we end welfare for all. No. These two slipped through. But plenty more who deserved the pardon got it.
I thing that’s the issue, there is no way that the kids-for-cash judge did not cause harm to thousands of children. While he may not have used violence, he certainly caused it and harmed literal children.
We as a society need to really think more critically about what counts as violent crime. Ordering some to juvi/prison for money is violent in my books.

I get that there were 1500 of them, but pardons/commutations should get a closer look than this.
So, they were non-violent offenders on house arrest, presumably all of these people were following the terms of their conviction.
That said, whoever compiled the list should have raised a flag on the ones that had many many victims.
