Christ, this could actually be a really big problem for them.

Newcastle must not be feeling too great, given how much they spent on Tonali.

Nicolò Zaniolo and Sandro Tonali are now officially under investigation by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office for the football betting affair. After Nicolò Fagioli, the two players mentioned by Fabrizio Corona were also notified of the investigation against them. Once the news was learned, complete with a conversation with the police in Coverciano, the FIGC agreed to have the two players in question abandon the retreat of the Italian national team: “The Federation communicates that, late in the afternoon today, the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office has notified investigative documents to the players Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Zaniolo, currently training with the national team at the Federal Technical Center in Coverciano. Regardless of the nature of the acts, believing that in this situation the two players are not in the necessary condition to face the commitments scheduled in the next few days, the Federation has decided to allow their return to their clubs, also to protect them.” .

Sounds more serious than I initially expected.

They’ve risked everything for what it seems to return nothing.
