Totally disagree with breitling and bell & Ross. My Spanish teacher has a superocean 44 and didn’t know what his watch was called. Maybe he was just trying to be humble but I doubt it
I mean you’ll get that outlier for every brand out there though so I don’t think you can “totally disagree” just because your Spanish teacher had no idea what watch he had.
I would say people go for Tag Heuer or Longines more than they’d go for B&R, Breitling, Baume et Mercier and such but you’re always going to find someone with a Richard Lange and knows nothing about watches or what complications are or even how to set the date for a perpetual calendar Patek etc anyway.
Give me a 20k bag or a 20 dollar bag and I’d use it the same way and not likely know the 20k bag is worth half that amount or care honestly. It could be any brand not stated as LV and I wouldn’t know at all. I wouldn’t even know what an LV bag costs or is worth actually other than they’re tacky with their logo and not cheap basically. Doesn’t mean much when it’s outliers.
If I gave my cousin a Blancpain he’d probably have no idea what it’s about other than if he likes the look or not for example.
Yeah I agree it’s just one point of data but in general I would say breitling is a pretty well known brand. Before I got into watches I knew Rolex, Casio, seiko, omega, and breitling
Many mentioned already so adding to those would be:
Girard Perregaux, H. Moser, Chopard, Bell & Ross, Baume et Mercier, in a way Panerai because you have to like the looks to get it so….
Ulysse Nardin, RGM for sure, Schwarz Etienne, Arnold & Son, Armin Strom, Moritz Grossmann, Louis Monet…
Breitling too honestly. Zenith. Parmigiani Fleurier.
