Wemby is a 7’4 two-way monster with insane agility and basketball ability.

His combined length and agility make him an anomaly defensively. He’s so potent that he warps the opponent’s offense and makes it hard for them to score and it even gets to their heads when they can’t score. He’s probably a walking Top 3 defense by himself with how large his coverage is.

On offense, he has the willingness to score at all 3 levels but he may not have the shooting touch of a KD. For now, he could be an insane play finisher like Anthony Davis with how untouchable his air is.

How would you build around Wemby?

In my opinion he would probably need the ff:

  • a great passer. A point guard or point forward that can put him in his spots. Example of these players are Tyus Jones, CP3, Draymond, Rondo, Rubio

  • a rebounder. Just like how KP had Kanter when he was in the Knicks, Wemby is played as a roam 4 and roam 4s usually don’t rebound as much as they should because they contest every shot. Examples of these players are Tiago Splitter, Enes Kanter, Kevon Looney. Kevin Love. Steven Adams

That’s it for now because it’s still unclear what he specializes in offensively and what route will he take whether he’ll model his game around KD, Jokic or Giannis. For sure, he’ll need shooters around him though.

I would honestly just let him play his first season, see how the team functions and performs around him then make a call

Have we thought about a hall of famer from the Virgin Islands and another from Argentina?

He just needs a dynamic on ball dominate creator along with solid 3/D players. The Hawks with Wembanyama instead of Capela are a decent template of that IMO.

Multiple ballhandlers/playmakers and for me a guy like Collins is the perfect fit at C next to Wemby with his ability to handle himself on the block defensively and rebound, Keldon is a solid rebounder also…and his ability to stretch the floor offensively. Lots of space for Wemby to work.

Great passers. Plural. High IQ guys. Shooters. Off the bounce creation is the least important thing when you have somebody like him around.

Defensively, guys with quick hands who can move. He’ll clean a lot up, so you can take risks.

Peja Stojankavic, Rashard Lewis, Channing Frye, Mike Miller, Baron Davis, Steven Adams, Shane Battier, Danilo Gallinari and Rajon Rondo would be core group around him. Maybe Tristan Thompson, Luke Kennard, and always Jeff Green rounding out my bench. Alex Len and Ish Smith too just in case.

I’d go get Trae or some other player that can compliment him offensively with gravity and insane lobs/playmaking and who Wemby can help hide on defense. It would probably be the best paring someone like Trae could get
