I’m looking for a good NBA podcast or show to watch/listen.

Sidenote: most of the podcasts I have listened to were very shallow, filled with hot takes to provoke or only focused on the star players. I’m actually looking for a show that does a deeper analysis, like young players to watch (rookie or prospects from college/europe), coaches and their decisions or tactics, etc…

Thank you for the suggestions.

The Mis Match, but they can be hot topicy at times. Kevin O’Connor is great and more analytical in his articles.

Group chat on the ringer Nba show. It can be hot take-y at times but usually that’s culled by the other two hosts scoffing at the idea. Great chemistry between the three guys and always gets a good laugh out of me.

If you want something a little unusual besides all the good suggestions here, Oddball with Amin El Hassan & Charlotte Wilder launched over the off season, which I think gave it time to gel before the season started.

Unfortunately, this means the demise of the best basketball podcast, Basketball Illuminati which has been rolled into Oddball.

Dunc’d On, Game Theory, Real GM are all good. Dunc’d On is especially fun when they do their “Mock Trade Deadline” and “Mock Off Season” episodes.

On the Athletic NBA feed, there’s a weekly (Friday) show called the Slam and Jam that is reliably great. The two hosts are very level-headed and thoughtful, and they pay attention to the whole league (even though they love their hometown Thunder). Plus, they’re old friends, and the overall vibe of the show is very friendly and pleasant. Each week they have a guest who’s usually a beat writer for one team, so they’ll go into depth on that one team.

My favourites are Brian Windhurst, Old Man and the Three, and Bill Simmons. I know they’re all pretty mainstream but I enjoy them all (even though I don’t like Bill very much)

No dunks and Bill Simmons for the conversations style by people who actually love and watch a shit ton of basketball

Hoops tonight hosted by Jason Timpf on the Volume. I first heard about Jason as he was listed by someone as one of the top Jokic “haters”. I turned on his podcast to see what the fuss was about. Turns out I think he’s got some really good analysis and has even come around full circle on Jokic. He does have a bit of a Lakers bias, but he puts out a lot of really good in depth content about the entire league.

I also really enjoy Nerd Sesh on the volume, but they cover a wider variety of sports not just the NBA.

Came here to post this one.

Jason’s analysis is really good, I don’t know how long his channel has been around but his breakdowns and delivery stand out.

Down to Dunk is a great podcast feature Andrew Schlecht from The Athletic which specifically covers the Thunder. The Monday and Wendesday pods are especially good with some nuanced discussion - Friday is more goofy, but enjoyable if you get into it.
