Ignoring any contracts involving injuries etc.

For an active player to be making $25M a year on 8 PPG. Yes he’s good on the defensive end, but as far as offensive production… $100M for a 33 year old who averaged 8 PPG in the last 3 seasons?

The offensive value for any other player with average defense would be $10M or less. I just don’t see an additional $15M worth on the defensive end.

As incomprehensibly flawed as it is to evaluate a player in terms of ppg, yes, Draymond is the most offensively limited player on a contract of that size. A player with Draymond’s offensive limitations and average defense would be out of the league.

However, Draymond is one of the best defenders in the league. If he was even an average player on offense he’d probably command a max contract.

So yes, a player being paid for one skill can look really bad when evaluated in terms of another skill.
