And they didn’t get to his defense. I think he’ll be DPOY this season. He changes the definition of an open shot.

Wemby is the real deal…In terms of potential.

But it’s 100% true that he “hasn’t figured it out yet.” In other words, he’s not sure what moves/strategies to use in order to be the most efficient and consistent. He’s just displaying all the things he can possibly do on a consistent basis.

For example, can he make 3s? Sure. Has he shown he can shoot them at a 40% clip? Or even in the high 30s? Not yet.

I’m not buying anything on Wemby until I see him compete with the biggest and strongest in the NBA going at full speed.

Dude is a 7’4" stick bug, I need to see proof that his body can hold up after some physical play.

It’s weird that everyone is raving about Wemby’s offense when his defense will far more impactful, especially his rookie year

People are talking about him having an unstoppable jumper and stuff when he’ll likely be somewhat inefficient his rookie year

But Wemby makes defense super interesting to watch. How he gets these blocks is some out of this world shit.

The dude put up great numbers on league average efficiency in LNB Pro A just last season, a league which is worse than ACB which Luka dominated, never mind EuroLeague. Saying he’s top 5 in the league rookie season is pretty much saying that LNB Pro A is just a small step behind the NBA. I think he’ll put up something like 22/11/3 on average TS, compete for league leader in blocks, not enough for all-star and for sure not top 5 in the league.

Sure, but it’s also a more competitive league than LNB Pro A, and EuroLeague even more competitive still, where Luka won MVP. And Luka didn’t manage to make all-star his rookie season, and I’d say the all-star race is even more competitive than back then. I just don’t think Wemby is going to play DPOY level D, bang down the PPG & box stats to qualify for all-star on respectable TS. But we’ll see, it would be an insane jump from his last LNB Pro A season.

Wemby is the exception to that rule. Most of his highlights are defence for a reason, the shit he does is mind blowing. A super tall guy shooting or dunking is not that crazy. Wemby stealing the ball from someone in the paint while his back leg is nearly on the 3pt line, or him getting his fingers on a super high release, high arc shot from 6’7 Andrew Wiggins, that shit is crazy.

Bro, I know. Dude showing in preseason his ability to close out on a three from the paint with that length is scary.

And he will only get better. Even if he’s trash on his shooting, purely on defence and then getting some easy dunks and fast break makes him an all star already.

I think Wemby is 1 of 1 in the NBA right now. There’s no one else like him in the NBA and that’s what makes him hard to put in these top most skilled lists. People thought he might be a better version of Bol Bol but let’s face it Wemby’s in a league of his own already. His skills at that height are so game breaking that even a basic skill like a stand still 3pt jumpshot vaults him into a league of his own because who can block that or even bother his shot?

I don’t think he’s top 5 most skilled in the NBA right now, there are too many highly skilled players who are legendary already in their careers. But I would say that Wemby’s combination of size and skills make him the most uniquely impactful player in the NBA right now if he can stay healthy. Wemby can be a better, bigger version of Giannis or Anthony Davis.
