Josh Okogie tonight: 17 Points, 5 Rebounds, 7-9 (1-1 3PT). The 6’4 Nigerian guard played great defense on the Splash Bros and provided a clutch three off a Booker assist. The likely 5th starter for the rest of the season, he provides hustle and off-ball cutting, perfect next to 3 players that can create their own shot.

such a Frank Vogel guy, not shocked at all to see him get the 5th starter. still think the 5th starter will be fluid throughout the year, but Okogie seems like the default option.

Every contender has that guy whose stats aren’t eye-popping but always does all the little things and makes key contributions. For the Suns it’s Josh Okogie.

That’s Okogie. Don’t expect the shooting to stand like that, but he brings all the intangibles you can want.

No way. I love Okogie, but Brown is NOT a good comp for him.

Brown’s strength was his versatility. He was a good defender, solid shooter, quasi-point guard who could create in the pick and roll or transition with his floater.

Okogie is a defense first guy who can do some damage cutting and crashing the glass. He’s a near-zero shooter who has a tendency to lose offensive confidence. Against a team with rim protection who dares him to shoot, he might find himself parked on the bench.

First three of the night and he nails it which really was probably the biggest shot of the game. He did everything you’d hope for and more if you’re a Suns fan tonight. Looks like the perfect fit as fifth starter for the reasons u/yerr2477 mentioned, his off ball cutting, hustle, ability to defend an opponent’s best wing and defensive versatility. He’s a smart ball mover too and sets off ball screens…if he can shoot 33% from 3 again…it doesn’t have to be crazy. Just not be a total zero as a shooter. He’s worked hard on that shot.

Suns roster in general makes a whole lot of sense. Very well crafted by their front office and James Jones.
