This whole conversation is a live drama reimagining of the meme “big if true”

How would this even work when it comes to your teammates contract extensions? Wouldn’t teammates blame you if they didn’t get the deal they wanted?

    1. This claim was never made publicly and can’t be proven to have ever actually happened. The talk about it is just clickbait at this point.

    2. His stock is dropping quickly, and while he might still be the top pick, it’s far from consensus.

    3. The rules prohibit it from happening.

I wish I could upvote this multiple times. I’m so sick of seeing this “story” when there’s literally not one single quote of him saying this.

HIs dad, one time, kinda alluded to ONE DAY owning SOME EQUITY in a team. Yaknow, like Tom Brady does literally right now. And yet it has been twisted into “Caleb Silver-Spoon Williams Demands to be Owner of Team That Drafts Him”

Overlooking any reason given here as to why this won’t happen, the simple answer is the only one that matters – it sets a terrible and costly precedent. If this ever did happen, every #1 pick would expect the same treatment. It’s like guaranteed contracts on steroids since they’d get paid for life, and there’s no real cap on the payout… especially considering teams keep going up in value.

I get horrible vibes from this guy. It almost feels like a forgone conclusion that he’s going to dominate the league, but how about we see it before anyone crowns his ass

How to lose the number 1 overall pick in 2 easy steps.

1 - Believe you’re the number 1 pick and start making demands.

2 - Assume a Billionaire gives a fuck what you want, and wont out of spite move to the next guy. Cause success rate of number 1 overall picks is not great.

Last week, an unsubstantiated rumor surfaced claiming USC’s star quarterback—widely expected to go first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft—wants an equity stake in whichever team drafts him.

Love when people read a headline and don’t even understand the article
