Lebron got to the conference semi finals in his 3rd year and the finals in his 4th year. Since wemby is on the GOAT trajectory do you think Spurs will be real contenders in the next couple years? Who would the spurs need to get to be Wembys sidekick?

I think you’d be hard pressed to say he’s on the GOAT trajectory after this game. He definitely doesn’t look as dominant as he did in preseason. Was making a lot of rookie mistakes on defense and picked up a lot of stupid turnovers and fouls. Spurs looked more cohesive when he wasn’t on the floor.

He’s still a game changer on defense due to his size and mobility alone, and he will improve as the season goes on. He’s not going to make the spurs instant contenders though.

LeBron had a negative +/-, also lost his game, and was both less efficient and less productive per minute during his debut game. I do not think Wemby will be the GOAT but this seems like an overreaction to a single game where he somehow had three offensive fouls in like a minute.

Lebron was in a very weak conference and he had no realistic chance to win the whole thing until he joined the Heat and another top 5 talent at the time. It takes much more than that

GOAT trajectory is crazy, let the kid cook first. Anyway, I’d say 2-4 years. I’m seeing some people saying upwards of 5+ years, but this team has a legit core, and besides Wemby, I’m especially high on Vassell and Jones. I wouldn’t be extremely surprised if they make some noise in the play-in or even snag a playoff berth this season.
