    1. Maybe don’t throw a pick six?
    2. We don’t need a QB doing a textbook tackle, but at least try to get in front and slow the guy down

Carr isn’t as small or valuable. Tua couldn’t tackle a kicker, he needs to get out of there as soon as he passes the ball.

Carr isn’t the engine that wins this team games. 50% of the players on the team would rather see Winston or Hill at QB. And Carr is about as big as some of the people picking him off. He isn’t endearing himself to the team by not making the tackle.

I would say it depends completely on the context. If it’s the last 5 minutes of a close do or die game to make the playoffs and they are just trying to run a guy down from behind and can tackle him by tripping him up at the legs, then hell yeah, go for it.

If it’s like week 2 during a blow out and there’s a prime Kam Chancellor sized dude running full speed right at them, then hell no. Get out of the way and live to fight another day.

Wouldn’t even go that in depth tbh

A simple shove out of bounds? Go for it

Need to make a physical hit or tackle? No chance

I would say that I agree for the most part and I would for sure want them to be more on the cautious side when deciding if a tackle is worth the risk or not, but there are definitely situations where I would want them to go for it no matter what. If it’s the very end of a game that decides if you make the playoffs or not, the QB is the only one between the defensive player and the defense, and it’s going to be a walk off pick 6, then yeah, I want them to go for the tackle. For all you know, this is the closest your team will come to the playoffs for the next decade. You don’t want to just let them go because you just hope to make it that far again next year. A game that decides if you make the playoffs is just as important as the actual playoff game.

Can think of at least a handful of current NFL QBs who got injured that way:

    • Herbert fractured finger 4 weeks ago

    • Mayfield torn labrum in 2021

    • Dalton fractured thumb in 2015

If you’re a fringe QB then yeah probably worth putting in the effort to help the team win but if you’re even an average league starter, potentially stopping a bigger return is not worth the really high injury risk and the lost value of you missing time with injury.

I do, but my team also hasn’t had a good quarterback the entire time I’ve been alive so my thoughts might change if we had someone to lose

First quarter, or worth a big lead? No. Two games or more lead in standings? No. Close game fighting for playoff positioning? Yes

I know if I were the QB I’d try to make the tackle, and that’s probably how most players feel.

I know Bake wasn’t looking great that season before the injury but…MAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN

That was a fun time to have the Browns games on as a neutral lol. The playoff win was so goddamn fun to watch.
