Scoot definitely felt the bright lights in this one, clearly struggled and showed his young age against Westbrook, George, Leonard & the experienced Clippers.
However, it was encouraging to see him build momentum at the end that he can hopefully carry over into the game Friday vs. ORL.
Welcome to the league. One game who cares go next.
He got blocked on his first two drives to the basket. Basically stopped driving after that
He’s fucking terrible
His heart just isn’t in Portland.
If you’re coaching this guy, in this first game, given where he was (passive and nervous) through 3… you put him in the 4th and tell him to attack. Let him get those first few buckets, take the jitters off. I’m not worried about stat padding as a theme for the kid.
He needs to learn to read the floor better on both ends, though. He’s a step behind recognizing what’s happening.
Was very poor tonight tbh. Did think he looked good on the ball at least and was trying to make things happen but kept getting passes picked and shots blocked. If he can adjust his play selection around what NBA level defenders allow there’s promise there.
He’s a 19 year old guard, always going to be some lumps in his rookie season, particularly early.
He’s 19 years old playing one of the top defensive teams (probably) in the nba. Give the boy time.
If this was Brandon Miller everyone would be on his ass. Oh well.
But I was told that Scoot was a star by media heads and ESPN /s
I think he’ll be fine but this stat line is misleading as hell. When the game mattered, he was abysmal. Rounded it out against the scrubs during the 4th when game was set in stone.
