Still .601 TS% because of those drives. It’ll be worse for the league if they ever start going to P&R as frequently as Philly. Lillard does his best work off that, by far.

It’s all relative. There are far more possessions in games now than there were in the 90s or early 00s. More shots, especially with so many 3s going up, drives rebound totals. 3s are also inflating scoring numbers.

There was a time when it was normal to have 10 or so total players in the league averaging over 20ppg. 25 is the new 20.

This is a question of fit as much as it is a question of efficiency. Chet fits better in OKC, I think. Wemby is currently benefitting from-, and suffering from the reality of being The Guy in SA. Everything is built around him. In OKC, Shai and the rest of the roster allow Chet the ability to be selective/opportunistic. He’s doing great within that. Wemby is operating with feature touches and volume. Chet is getting 29.1 points per 100 possessions on 18 FGA per 100 possessions. Wemby is scoring 30.1 points per 100 possessions on 25.7 FGA per 100 possessions. They have some similarities, but they have different roles.

I’m not sure how Wemby would look being selective. That emphasizes making reads on what defenses are giving up, rather than finding something from nothing.

To be clear, this is “it’s hard to say”, not “I don’t think he would do well.”

Maxey comes over screens at speed like a running back. He’s not so much shifty or a gear-change guy. He goes over with momentum.

Low key nod to AD… the 76ers have only looked at their set with Embiid feeding Harris in the post once this game.

It’s the system. They’re not making him pass out of post iso or against set defenses. They’re using him like Jokic, getting him the ball on rolls keeping it on hand off sets so there’s movement and defensive rotation. He’s not a great passer with his back to the basket, but excels finding gaps when he’s facing the basket.

Giannis is frequently fixated on dribbling into defenders and looking to spin or euro off them. He tends to get too deep before passing on those.

LeBron is also at his best passing in that kind of situation (looking at moving parts). They just don’t capitalize on it by building it into their attack.

The Lakers have a lot of possessions with players standing and watching while someone has the ball. Seems like their movement stops most of the time on a catch.

76ers are constantly looking to force defenses to move and attack the gaps. P&R sets, all of the pass -> run over the hand off screen, post feed & move away, etc.

What a game so far. These are creative and smart offenses, and there have been some great defensive rotation plays.

We’ve seen very little Maxey - Embiid P&R so far. Seems Philly wanted to establish inside presence early. Now 3 Maxey - Embiid looks in the past 2 minutes of clock.

76ers have already gone to that set with Batum catching at the elbow to feed cutting Embiid twice. Taking Chet out of P&R to keep him on Embiid so far.

I love how Pat plays off the catch.

Pat and Bobby have GPS trackers on each other. Their chemistry is fantastic.

He’s in a new city, going through a divorce, sat two games due to calf problems and shot short but on line in this one - looks like a lift issue with the jumper.

Giannis and the bench get it done.

The bench looks really good. If Dame can work through whatever is dragging on him (divorce + new team/role + calf?) and Middleton can get into the late season healthy, they’ll be a problem.

Giannis is the antithesis of Jokic. Incredible physical specimen, terrible decision maker on the floor. He’s slow to attack off the catch when he gets it at the 3pt line, so the defense has s chance to pinch. He often dribbles into packed paint with defenders who are ready for him, misses reads to a lot of kick outs… he seems to have no ability to read defenses.

The fact that he’s still great is a testament to his ability. It’s insane to produce like that when you make it so difficult on yourself.

Harris is having one of those “we didn’t have an answer for that guy” nights despite the shooting struggle today. Some second chance buckets, great aggression, drawing attention and kicking the ball out… solid game.
