I haven’t seen any situations so far where a player flopped and was penalized for it. Anyone know if it’s happened yet?

Yes in fact they’ve already missed a call where it was a foul and they called it a flop. That rule isn’t going to be helpful it’s just going to give more chances for refs to fuck up.

Any flop call should just automatically be reviewed by the NBA control center. In theory it’s a good change, but there has to be a quality control in that situation in case the refs miss a foul.

I think this is a great solution. Don’t stop the play, rather, signal the replay center to review the flop. When it’s determined it’s a flop, then call the tech at the next stoppage and allow for the free throws.

This would solve the issue of punishing the innocent and this weird inconsistent “sometimes we stop the play and sometimes we don’t” kind of nonsense.

The realist in me knows that the new flop rules will be forgotten about by December.

This happens every year, just like the delay of game call, raking, and take fouls. Come January, it’ll be business as usual.

    another 4 days

refs will shift to an anti-whining week

I truly miss the safety dribbling/no carry week from last season though

The rule in general is such a slippery slope

“We’re gonna push you for flopping on a call we missed” like at least only call it on non fouls/called fouls.

There should be infinitely more post game fines if they’re going to bother doing any

Apparently they only use that rule yesterday, today Bucks - 76ers have some flop but no one call it.
