I’ve an opportunity to pick up the Orient President Gen 1 baton hands blue dial, in the condition as per the pic, for about USD200. No box or papers.
Based on the pics I would need to put in a new crystal, and to have the hour and minute hand cleaned.
Just wondering what people’s thoughts on whether this is a good purchase considering the work to be done?

The new crystal is a few dollars, installing one is about 4 minutes. Cleaning hands 25 seconds. You should be able to get all of this done for $80 even if you are getting ripped off
(If that is rust on the hands there’s nothing you can do, it’s plated metal you can’t sand it down)

Very very rare occasion where a homage is kind of okay because it’s just so damn good
It’s a mineral crystal so it’s cheap to replace. Where I’m from this cost me once $32. Cleaning the hands should be less than that. Yeah, it’s worth it if you like the watch. It’s a nice blue dial.
