I have been thinking about the future of the league lately. A lot of the guys we’ve been enjoying the last decade and a half are going to be retiring before too long.

So then naturally, I began thinking about how this newest batch of young players is really exciting and I really would like to hear the community’s take on, specifically, who they would take Zion or Wemby (assuming health) and why? Or is there someone else you would choose first? I just really find the Zion and Wemby comparison interesting.

Thoughts?

This question is insane… Zion has already proven to be an All-NBA player when healthy. Wemby appears to be great but give him a season first.

What players do you need to build around him though? It’s year 4 and we don’t still don’t have the answer to that

It really isn’t crazy to take one over the other and this is coming from someone who hates these cop out answers. Zion year 2 was like 27/7 and unstoppable plus he was running the offense as the point guard on occasion over the last few years. If you can guarantee me he stays healthy he can easily be a 30 ppg scorer and turn into a great defender.

Wemby though has shown he can do everything. The defensive upside is high and he can also be a great scorer. I would slightly lean Wemby but they’re really neck and neck assuming they both stay healthy for the rest of their careers

As of right now Zion is the better player. However, Wemby has a higher ceiling.

Part of this comes down to offense and defense as well. Healthy Zion is one of the best scorers in the league, I don’t think Wemby will ever top him in that department (though I think he’ll be become a good scorer). While on the flip side, Wemby has goat potential on the defensive end.

Hmm, a literal giant with elite guard skills, or a short, fat linebacker who doesn’t like basketball 🤔
