Jamal Murray is reading the game at a PHD level, punishing defenses no matter what they do to defend him. Friday’s game at Memphis was the latest example
Video analysis by Chris Dempsey on Jamal Murray’s performance from last night’s game.
No offense but I can cherry pick any scrub in the league who has these same 4 highlights. But yes I also acknowledge Jamal is good.
1: Maybe the simplest read in all of basketball. Defender goes under, take the shot. If you’re a shooter in the NBA and can’t make that read there’s a SERIOUS problem.
2: Solid reaction to a defender overdropping, but still nothing I’d call a “PhD level read”, he simply saw there was space in front of him and took the floater.
3: This… isn’t even a read. He simply makes a difficult shot over his defender.
4: Pocket pass to the pop, again this is a very simple read, especially between players who’ve played with each other for a long time.
Yeah, I agree. I’m not impressed by any of what the clip shows.
There’s a lot of magic to the Jokic-Murray 2 man game, but I don’t think this describes it.
Murray has been making really high level reads since he came back from injury. Turned himself into a quality playmaker.
Dempsey picked pretty poor plays to demonstrate that.
The man is back it’s Jamal Murray day mfers
The amount of gaslighting that’s been done for Murray is kinda insane. PHD level? Wtf is that. If you’d describe one player on the Nuggets as “reading the game at a PHD level” there is a completely different Nugget you should be talking about.
I see a lot of Laker fans in here here trying to put down Murray. Still bitter over the annhililation he did on you I guess.
Bro just using a screen lol. Like he’s a stellar player and one of the most electric in the league today, but cmon these aren’t the examples to prove that point lmao
reading at a PhD level
He skipped every other reading and skimmed the rest?
